If you’re trying to make sense of the deeply troubling escalation toward regional war now unfolding in the Middle East, look no further than journalist Vanessa Beeley’s presentation at last week’s “Genocide and Empire” symposium.
In her 28-minute talk, Beeley describes how it is US and Israeli actions that are driving the escalation toward all-out war. Their goal, she argues, is to destabilize and balkanize the resistance axis in the Middle East — which includes Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran — and establish Israel as a regional imperial power.
The apparent attempt to engineer confrontations with Syria and Iran is perhaps appropriately viewed as the latest iteration of the Pentagon’s post-9/11 plan to take out “seven countries in five years,” later famously divulged by General Wesley Clark in an interview with Amy Goodman.
Also, we’re pleased to announce that individual videos and transcripts for all five presentations made at the “Genocide and Empire” symposium are now available at IC911.org. We highly recommend watching this very timely series of talks if you haven’t already.
