Author’s Note on ‘Another Nineteen’ Chapters 10 and 11
The events at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, are still not well understood. However, there are many odd coincidences related to the building renovation project in progress at that time that can shed light on what happened. These coincidences include the following:
- Wedge 1, the relatively small section of the Pentagon that had just completed renovation, was exactly where the aircraft hit.
- The company that did the renovation was immediately hired to clean up the debris at both the Pentagon and the WTC. That company was led by Peter Janson, a long-time business colleague of Donald Rumsfeld.
- The renovation project was led by Paul Wolfowitz and before him by his predecessor John Hamre. They employed a project manager whose experience was not in construction but in a top-secret U.S. Air Force black project related to satellites.
- Just before 9/11, satellite-based GPS guidance systems had been developed that removed control of an airliner from its pilots and ran an uninterruptible pre-programmed autopilot plan. The technology was thoroughly tested by Raytheon and the U.S. Air Force in the three months before 9/11.
Details provided in Chapter 10 describe how these facts can provide answers to questions that otherwise have no reasonable explanations.
Chapter 11 gives the history of two men, L. Paul Bremer and Brian Michael Jenkins, who led the national discussion about terrorism for decades prior to 9/11. It explains how they helped transform the nation’s perception of the threat of Soviet communism into a perception of a threat of Islamic terrorism. Both of these men were also closely related to aviation security policy and, in another astounding coincidence, both were intimately connected to activities at the WTC.
Brian Michael Jenkins was a special operations soldier who was later accused of planning and implementing a terror war against civilians in Central America during the 1980s. In the ’90s, as deputy chairman of Kroll Associates, Jenkins led the planning for terrorism threats against the WTC buildings, during which he considered the possibility of airliner crashes into the Twin Towers.
L. Paul Bremer is best known for being the Occupation Governor of Iraq after 9/11, but he had previously played many other roles related to defining terrorism. Those roles led to his being named chairman of the National Commission on Terrorism just before the 9/11. He was also a director for a company that patented a thermite demolition device in 1998. At the time of the attacks, Bremer worked for Marsh & McClennan, which occupied all the floors of impact in the North Tower. Bremer’s office was located in the South Tower, but he was not in the office that day. Instead, he safely avoided danger and spent the day doing interviews in network television studios, helping to provide the official narrative implicating Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda.
