We are pleased to announce that the Journal of 9/11 Studies has published a new article by IC911 Research Director Dr. Piers Robinson entitled “Researching 9/11 and Beyond: Current Knowledge and Future Directions.”
In this article, Dr. Robinson conducts an extensive review of key findings established by the 9/11 research community over the past two decades and identifies areas where further research is called for in order to reach a fuller understanding of the events of September 11, 2001.
Dr. Robinson also sets forth IC911’s widened scope of research, which involves the study of 9/11, its consequences, and similar types of events through the “structural deep event” lens coined by Peter Dale Scott.
Dr. Robinson’s paper will exist as a “living document” to be updated based on feedback and as major research developments emerge.
In addition to serving as the foundation of future research at IC911, a secondary goal of the paper is to provide a broad overview of 9/11 research for academics and journalists who have yet to engage in serious scrutiny of 9/11. Our hope, expressed in the paper, is to spur a shift toward critical examination of 9/11 and other deep events in fields that have thus far taken the official account of 9/11 only at face value.
At 12,000 words and containing more than 190 references, “Researching 9/11 and Beyond” will serve as a significant resource for years to come. We are grateful to Dr. Robinson for this important contribution to the 9/11 literature.
